      collator_compare — Compare two Unicode strings

      Description

      Object oriented style

      integer Collator::compare ( string $str1 , string $str2 )

      Procedural style

      integer collator_compare ( Collator $coll , string $str1 , string $str2 )

      Compare two Unicode strings according to collation rules.

      Parameters

      coll

      Collator object.

      str1

      The first string to compare.

      str2

      The second string to compare.

      Return Values

      Return comparison result:

      • 1 if str1 is greater than str2 ;

      • 0 if str1 is equal to str2;

      • -1 if str1 is less than str2 .

      On error boolean FALSE is returned.

      Warning

      This function may return Boolean FALSE, but may also return a non-Boolean value which evaluates to FALSE, such as 0 or "". Please read the section on Booleans for more information. Use the === operator for testing the return value of this function.
